Updates for March @ The Camera Club

March has already seen a lot of new things happening at both the club and Gallery 1885. We now have a new president. Lucy Reeve has taken over from Paul Smith - if you want to read her opening statement you can do so on the blog here.

Studio Updates

We have listed to your feedback and made a few improvements. We’ve now got new ultra-dark polyboards, with sharper fabric edges in BOTH studios. They also only need ONE stand to work. We also made new reflectors with the off-cuts. Thanks to Gavin, Dolph, James and Phil for organising. We've also been replacing the rolls and tidying up the posing boxes. If you have any requests then please let the stewards know on the front desk.

Gallery 1885

The dual exhibition of DAN BACHMANN and IAN GREAVES drew a huge crowd for their opening night and even had some follow-up crowds.

From March 05 - APR 01 we’ll see the MEMBERS EXHIBITION showing images from the Studio Pods and ImagesArt groups. The Open View will be on Friday 10 March @ 6PM

Following this, we’ll have the exciting works of CELESTIAL CHAOS in April, Enzo Peccionotti in May and Stuart Hull in June.

TCC Training Vote Now

Last month we sent out requests via email for training requests. We’ve put together the results and we’re already working on some training sessions on studio lighting, Photoshop & Lightroom and darkroom training.

Updates will be posted on all our socials. We'll also be running LIVE STREAMS of our events in the very near future.

Groups & Pods

This month we have the Studio Portrait Pod with Nick Gregan on the 16th March

We’ll be live streaming this event on our new platform so keep an eye on the website home page or socials for how to attend.

The ImageArt group will be on Wednesday 29th March. This month’s concept is “SPACE”. We’ll be talking about your own favourite photographers, showing your own images and exploring the concepts in photographic detail - the group is led by our resident Photographic Art specialist Bill Hart-French.

All updates for groups are now on the HOME PAGE

The Impossible Group

The Impossible Group is an exploration of the bleeding edge of photography, image making and camera technology.

The group meet to discuss drones, VFX, Lidar, 3D scanning, the latest ML image assistants and AI content generators, computational photography, advanced techniques in image manipulation and the impact all of it is having on traditional photography.

This group is very much in its infancy and has it's first meetup, but it is not for the faint-hearted and will explore subjects often deeply seated in technology and explores ideas, that as we've discovered, many traditional photographers aren't comfortable with. It's also open to non-members.
