Club News for February 2023

February has already seen a lot of new things happening at both the club and Gallery 1885. We're back in full force and have a huge list of activities coming. Now read on..

The 2023 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of The Camera Club will be held on Saturday 18th February 2023 at 2pm in the Club Gallery.

This is your opportunity to hear about the running of the Club. Your Committee looks after the day-to-day running of the Club. They are elected by the membership at each AGM and they serve for one year. The present Committee will stand down on 18th February 2023 and a new committee will be elected on that date.

The committee can also co-opt additional volunteers during the year to fill vacancies. An Agenda is sent out along with the nominations for the new Committee, section reports and the 2022 Annual Accounts.

Please do try to come along on Feb 18th and have your say.

I'm happy to receive any comments re the AGM via email.

Regards

Next Studio Lighting Pod - February 25th

We have a small group who meet in the studio on a Saturday each month to experiment and share lighting techniques. We model for and inspire each other in this informal shoot with a demonstration or concept in mind.

Cost: free with an optional contribution to the cost of the studio hire

January saw a packed studio, experimenting with narrow focused lights. The planned date for next month is Saturday 25th February at The Camera Club - we'll be experimenting with a BLADE RUNNER theme.

It will be starting at 10am in Studio 1. PLACES GO QUICKLY!

Limited to the first 6 who RSVP via events@thecameraclub.co.uk or ring through to the front desk on 0207 7587 1809 and we'll add you to the roster.

Next ImageArt Group

The ImageArt Group meet on the last Wednesday of the month to display and discuss their images based on each month’s theme.

This is currently open to everyone and a great way to meet amateur and seasoned photographers alike.

At the last meet up we presented images from the group and watched a 10 Minute video with Annie Leibovitz.

The FEBRUARY theme will be LOSS.

This month we'll be asking members to also bring related images on the same theme to discuss. They can be by any photographer based around the idea of LOSS.

Come along - all are welcome. 7PM onwards @ Gallery 1885 - or simply tag your entries on instagram / twitter with #TTCLOSS and let us know.

Call for... '"The Impossible" group

Now Christmas and the cold weather is behind us the first initial meeting of The Impossible group is Feb 10th at the club.

Phil Taylor writes: I'm trying to find a small group of photographers that want to explore thinking outside the box of traditional photography. This would involve creating scenes, green/blue screen work and special effects, both in and out of the studio. This isn't a one-off project and could be continuous.

It won't be just point and shoot group, it could involve getting permission to photograph on certain areas, arranging suitable models, scouting certain areas. You'd need to be willing to try Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Houdini etc and share any discoveries. But more importantly you've got to be creative in your way of thinking and problem solving.
