Evening seminar 'Photoshop for Portraiture in a nutshell' with Miko Coffey.

It is designed to cover all the bases of standard photographic post-processing, allowing you to take your photography to the next level. Miko will show you how to use the core tools of Adobe Photoshop CS specifically for portraiture (most of the techniques also apply to Photoshop Elements).
You will learn how to:
- Use levels, curves and contrast adjustments to fine-tune your images
- Retouch like a pro (conceal wrinkles, smooth complexion, white teeth, make eyes stand out, etc)
- Use creative cropping, dodging & burning to create drama and enhance lighting
- Use creative blending modes to simulate 'wet' darkroom effects (ie sepia toning, cross-process, etc)

Exhibition opening and members reception:'Skins' by Daniela Holischeck
The presented images are figure studies and abstract body portraits of male and female models. There are small details that I try to catch with my camera, the shape, symmetry, beauty or an attitude. Some of the images are very abstract while others like the full body portraits disclose all there is. With closer observation the attitude of the model might shine through.
This project has been an interesting journey for me. When I photographed the details and shapes in the model's poses I discovered how versatile each image can be when printing them in different ways in the darkroom. While this is nothing new to any photographer, I was just fascinated how much the same image printed in different ways could give different information.
All images are hand printed on 11x14 fibre based paper and are available for sale. Enquiries can be directed to Daniela Holischeck on holisdan@hotmail.com.
Some of the images can also be viewed online under www.danielaholischeck.com.
Thursday 23rd September 6.30p.m.
'Press photography inside and out'. Illustrated presentation by Sue Foll
After graduating in 1984 with first class honours, Sue moved into print media design working on titles such as Elle Deco and Empire. She also produced original design for galleries and artists including Hayward Gallery and Riverside Studios. In 1991 Sue was recruited by David Driver, head of design at "The Times", and for the next 14 years she worked on nearly every aspect of the newspaper. In 2003 she was appointed chief designer of the new Saturday section "Body and Soul", followed by "Times Travel". In 2007 Sue went freelance, and to date has undertaken commissions amongst others for The BBC, The Times and Sunday Times, Haymarket Publications, Sunday Express and Financial Times.
Sue was recently commissioned to form an exhibition around the first year of the creative agency Libertine, and earlier this year she was the subject of a short film by "The Guardian" on how she goes about shooting strangers. Sue is also an avid blogger and publishes a picture a day on Blipfoto. All of the above can be accessed on her website www.suefoll.co.uk
This presentation will give a personal insight into Sue's fascinating, colourful and varied experiences as a leading press and freelance photographer, which will be of major interest to both professional and amateur club members.
