After another successful workshop in January 2025, The Portrait Group returns in February for a special 1 year anniversary workshop.


The Portrait Group is a studio lead workshop offering members and non-members to learn about studio portrait photography.

Whether you are new or experienced with taking studio portraits, this is the workshop for you.



The Portrait Group Dates:


Thursday 20th February 2025 - 7pm - 9pm

Thursday 20th March 2025 - 7pm - 9pm


Please Note: Non-members are welcome to join one workshop by paying £40.

 After this membership would need to be attained to participate in future workshops.

Dreams

This months is all about photographing the world we go to when we sleep. Perhaps its an ethereal place best captured by experimenting with long exposures? Maybe its the dream where you're falling and you'd like get in the studio to recreate it? There's always childhood dreams of how we hoped life would unfold, and the daydreams we slip into during the daily grind. Let's not forget, nightmares count as dreams too! And for those among us who don't remember our dreams - how do you imagine a dream would look?

Empty Space

Submissions for the IA group are twofold: Main submission based on a monthly theme and second submission should be inspired by a photograph submitted the previous month and chosen by Simon and Fred. A sort of photographic Chinese whisper or Pass the the parcel!


PART ONE

August is school holiday month, when the city is a bit less busy, a bit emptier. This month, we celebrate empty space. Share images depicting empty quiet spaces, empty squares, empty streets, landscape eerily devoid of people. Make use of negative space and shapes. Show us the empty space within or without.

Travel

PART ONE

July hasn't felt much like summer, so it's time for a bit of escapism. This month's challenge is about travel. Share images of your travels, wherever they take you. It can be a journey abroad in some sunny country or a bus journey to the other side of London. Take us to a destination that means something to you, either real, imaginary or within your inner self. Take us on a journey through images.

Now it's starting to feel like summer is here, this month's challenge is all about sunshine. You might want to photograph light hitting buildings, or perhaps what people get upto when te weather starts to get warmer, or it could even be an alternative photographic process that uses sunlight to produce an image! We're looking forward to seeing images to say sunshine.

When Two Tribes Go to War

Submissions for the IA group are twofold: Main submission based on a monthly theme and second submission should be inspired by a photograph submitted the previous month and chosen by Simon and Fred. A sort of photographic Chinese whisper or Pass the the parcel!


PART ONE

The monthly themE will follow a general thread throughout the year based on 80s music. Each month we will choose a line taken from a song to be the interpreting loosely as the theme for the next meeting. Bonus point for whoever can guess the song!

“When two tribes go to war”


With the May day riots, this month's challenge is all about confrontation, and situations where opposing forces come together. It could be anything, from people demonstrating and clashing with the police, to new and old buildings fighting for space , to animals, or colours which clash with each other!

The Camera Club Meetups, open to the public

Our list of groups is ever growing at The Camera Club and the latest offering is being run by a very new member Chanelle. 


The group is a very casual Meetup for photographers of all levels to talk about cameras (or anything related) and share a cup of Joe. 


And you don't need to be member to come.


The group meets up every FIRST SECOND SATURDAY of the month in Gallery 1885, on Bowden Street in Kennington. 


Our first session was in July with around 12 people attending, but as the group grows the numbers will too.


We hope to see you all there.
