The Camera Club and Gallery 1885 Newsletter 12/22

30.11.22 05:15 PM - By The Camera Club

Newsletter for December 2022

Last month we managed to send most of you the newsletter and as we clean up our data and dig through the covid-strewn rubble we're finding more of our membership every day. If you know someone who is a member who ISN'T getting the newsletter please LET US KNOW and we'll fix it as soon as possible.

The Xmas break approaches, so keep an eye on the club's opening dates and times below and read on...

THE ANNUAL MEMBERS WINTER SHOW 2022: Thanks to all of you who have submitted images to the 'submissions' mailbox.

This is a new process for us all so I think it fair to say we are all getting used to it.

The default position RE: digital images - is 'accepted'. If for any reason we do not feel it appropriate to hang a particular image we will contact you directly.

Usually, we recommend no more than three submissions.

We would try to hang all images submitted but there is an obvious space limitation and we want to include exhibits from as many members as possible. So it might be that the images you have printed and mounted will not make the wall on this occasion. If we need to reduce the number of your submissions, we will contact you to seek your preference.

As a further reminder, we do provide frames 50x40cm (the most commonly used size) and 84x59cm (more problematic to fit in). If you use your own frames, please ensure that there are hooks or similar on each side so that they work with the gallery hanging system.

See our framing guide here

The following dates apply to the hanging of the exhibition:

7th December 2022 - Last day to submit your mounted / framed prints.

14th December 2022 - Winter Exhibition begins.

15th December 2022 - Open View, 18:00-21:00.

The exhibition will run into January 2023. Updates to follow.

If you have any questions please comment below or email Submissions@thecameraclub.co.uk

Xmas Opening Times

The club will close on the 22nd December 2022 and open again in January

ImageArt Group: There will be no group this month, it falls rather close to Xmas and the club will not be open.

The Portrait Group - Live Stream

Specialist portrait photographer Nick Gregan runs the portrait group and will be holding the next session on Thursday 1st December at 7.00 - 9.00pm.

As usual he will be setting up from 6pm and members are welcome to join him earlier if they wish.

The group is fully booked out so please contact us to see if there's any remaining spaces.

They will be shooting some stylish hats inspired by 1950s & 60s fashion.

Nick will also be streaming it LIVE on YouTube so members can watch the group at work.

Postscript | PS...

The Social Media Team are always looking for members who would like their work featured on Instagram and Twitter. If you would like your work to be featured too, drop them a line: social@thecameraclub.co.uk

The Newsletter is here to let you know what's going on in the club and to talk about a few things going on in the world of photography. We need to rebuild the club after 3 years of struggling through the worst of times.

We welcome suggestions. Is there something we should be covering? Is there something you think might be of interest to the members? Let us know. We're inclusive, we're open to ideas and everyone is welcome.

Please also send us any exhibition news you may have heard of.

Regards
The Camera Club
